VAL was founded on the principle of open data and open infrastructure. This means that our data and infrastructure is free and available for anyone to use. VAL promotes efficiencies across all areas of biodiversity research and environmental management.
We’re committed to the principles of open data and infrastructure and believe there are many benefits to open data.
By aggregating biodiversity information and making it more available online, the VAL is assisting scientists, planners, managers and others to create a more detailed picture of Vermont’s biodiversity.
