To see if a particular species had been recorded in a chosen area, begin at the Vermont Atlas of Life homepage. Type the species or common name in the search box.
Click on the species name when it comes up in the list. (In this example, Abies balsamea)
You will then see the Occurrence records map for that particular species. Each dot represents an occurrence record for that species. If you click on View interactive map it will open the map in the Spatial Portal.
You can then zoom in to see the sightings of that species that have been recorded in that particular area.
From this map, you can click on individual dots to open up the record to view more details about it.
